In culture and heritage, interpretation is the way in which ideas, stories, people and knowledge are presented and communicated to audiences, ideally inviting active learning, thinking and creation of new meaning.
In early 2014, I worked with the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea on the interpretation development for a Heritage Lottery Funded re-display of their historical art and craft collection. I brainstormed extensively at a number of workshops with a creative team of gallery staff and outside associate specialists to explore interpretation themes and identify a wide range of interpretation and learning devices including films, digital media, games, graphics, participatory, sensory and mechanical interpretation tools.
I have a Masters Degree in Interpretation, Representation and Heritage from Leicester University, having studied with the world renowned Museums Studies Faculty there. I have excellent professional experience of developing and installing a range of exhibitions, displays and contemporary interventions at the V&A Museum, London, both in the Sackler Centre for arts education and in the permanent galleries throughout the museum. All my exhibition work has quality interpretation at its heart.
